Employee Profile: Henry Oliva
Our clients are important to us, but so are our employees, because as a respected home builder in Chesterfield VA they help us ensure our clients are happy and get the home they want. You’ll meet a lot of our team as you go through the home building process, but there are some you might not meet, but who play an important role, such as Henry Oliva, head of our Construction Services Department (CSD).
There’s a lot that goes into the construction of a home that you might not even think about. As the head of CSD, Henry works closely with the field and design teams, contractors, sales team, and accounting department. He deals directly with vendors regarding materials and pricing, oversees warranties, and puts together budget and profitability reports. From plans to local building requirements, he’s on top of it all to make sure every department has the necessary information.
Unsurprisingly, a typical day is a busy day for him. “Work is typically fast paced from the moment I open my computer,” he explains. “Pricing, budgets, checking in on team members, reviewing documents … I stay busy all day, but it keeps me out of trouble!” His great sense of humor is another asset.
Henry has been with us for 11.5 years and has been Employee of the Year. His connection with LifeStyle Home Builders goes back even further through his work with Oliva Construction, our siding contractor since 1993. His field experience, paired with architectural courses, have given him a deep understanding of the work he does.
After all his time with us, we all have a great connection. In fact, when it comes to what he loves about his job, “It’s the team that I get to work with on a daily basis. It truly makes a difference and allows me to do what I love.”
Beyond work, this native of El Salvador often helps in other ways. He and his parents, who are pastors, moved to New York when he was two years old. Unsurprisingly, their involvement in helping others rubbed off. “I love working with my hands, and I have a passion to help people.” In fact, he’s often assisting team members in organizing relief for victims of natural disasters, as well as helping at a couple of churches. In his free time, this brand new grandpa likes to go fishing, though he doesn’t get to go as often as he’d like. He also loves football and played at Clover Hill High School.
Henry is always there to lend a helping hand and works hard to make sure all of our clients end up happy with their brand new home.
