If you’re planning on moving into one of our new homes in Providence Forge VA in the coming year, our expert design studio manager is always there to help you decide on the finishing touches that will truly make your home a beautiful representation of you. Still, it’s always a good idea to have a vision of what you want for your home, and these leading trends for 2023 may just provide the kind of inspiration you need. Take a few elements or go bold with a particular design style: the choice is yours!

Gray is on its way out, but the newest trend is monochromatic with a touch of gothic. Dark and moody are in, with deep greens, blues, and purples on the wall – whether paint or wallpaper – paired with drapes, furnishings, shades, and more in the same color, using a mix of textures. Throw in some natural warm but light wood elements to provide the contrast with furnishings like wood tables or armchairs with the darker color cushions framed by wood arms and legs. If you like the idea but don’t want a dark room, you can still work with lighter colors, but still aim for layers of the same color.

As mentioned, wallpaper is having a revival thanks to the growing popularity of Art Deco, as well as an interest in more color and prints to add vibrancy to a room. Art Deco wallpapers with bold patterns are fantastic for powder rooms, bathrooms or even accent walls in bedrooms or wherever it feels right. People are also going for more modern, colorful prints to use in kitchens, dining rooms, and any room where sleek minimalism is being replaced with color and fun.

There are plenty of plant-inspired Art Deco wallpaper patterns, but actual plants and the colors of nature are growing increasingly popular. Large, lush floor plants paired with smaller tabletop and shelf plants add a bold but natural focus to any room. For rooms where you want a more relaxed atmosphere, turn to the colors of nature: sandy tones, aquatic blues, and soft greens. Pastels are also a popular option. People are bringing the outdoors inside for a warm, natural feeling that is calming and comforting.

In kitchens, you’re likely to see lighter-colored cabinets in white or light-wood colors, but with dark granite and soapstone countertops. The dark counters offer an interesting contrast, which is balanced by the lighter cabinets. Pull it all together with darker cabinet and drawer handles for a kitchen that is bold but not overwhelming and still feels comfortable and welcoming.

Finally, for all types of furniture, consider more rounded edges. The boxy minimalism is softening and turning more organic. Even if you still prefer a more minimalist approach, look for furnishings that are a little softer and rounded to create a more comfortable environment.

These are just some of the trends that will be showing up in homes in Providence Forge VA in the coming year. The great thing is that there’s something to appeal to every personal style. Whether you want big and bold or soft and simple, there are inspiring trends to help you put your personal stamp on your brand new home.
