Curb Appeal Tricks To Attract Buyers

Now is an excellent time to buy one of the new homes in Battle Ground WA. With nearly record-low mortgage rates continuing, you can purchase a fantastic home at a great rate. Our Cedar Landings community combines quality-built homes with stunning views and easy access to the Cedars On Salmon Creek golf course, just to name a few perks. Of course, to get one of the homes in this community full of old-growth evergreens, you probably need to sell your current home, and enhancing the curb appeal — with or without evergreens — is an important part of getting buyers to fall in love with your home. Here are some tips and tricks to grab their attention.

First and foremost, make sure your yard is properly maintained. Keep the grass as green and neatly trimmed as possible. If you don’t have the time or patience to stay on top of it, hire someone to come out weekly, because a messy yard can easily give the impression of a home that isn’t properly maintained, turning buyers off after the first glance.

If you have bushes or plant beds that haven’t been tended to in a while, make sure bushes are trimmed neatly, weeds are pulled, and consider adding in some new flowering plants, if possible. Even if you can’t add in plants, adding in a fresh layer of new mulch, colored stone, or wood chips will help give plant beds a fresh, neat look.

It is also important to make sure your walkways and driveway look their best. Get rid of any weeds popping up and fix any cracks with caulk. If you have stains on your driveway, rent a power washer and give your driveway a good clean. Another trick is to hose down your driveway and walkway right before taking photos or videos to make them look fresher and more photogenic.

If your garage door faces onto the street, it is important to make sure the door looks its best. Give it a new coat of paint, or at least clean it and make sure any windows are clean and not damaged.

During the summer, outdoor lights might not be as important, but it’s still a good idea to make sure all of your outdoor lights work, especially any that light up walkways or surround the front door. Make sure the fixtures are clean and try to use warm lights for an inviting glow.

Finally, make sure your mailbox, if it’s a separate structure, is straight, in good shape, and clean, with clearly marked, non-damaged numbers. Similarly, make sure any house numbers are clean, straight, and easy to see. Things like welcome mats, porch furniture, screen doors, and anything that people will see as they approach the house should be updated, cleaned, or replaced if beyond repair. Adding attractive potted plants in bright colors on the steps or arranged attractively on your front porch gives a sense of fresh vibrancy to a home, enhancing the first impression.

All of these little measures add up to create important curb appeal. With some buyers being picky enough to decide if they want to view a home based solely on the exterior, it’s vital that you make a strong first impression. Even for less picky buyers, an attractive exterior can be the deciding factor in encouraging someone to buy your home. Once that’s done, you’ll be ready to move into one of the homes in Battle Ground WA, where you get to enjoy your brand new home with its own great curb appeal.
